Can We Please Move on!

Well yesterday was probably one of the biggest days in history and yet somehow, someway, people choose to ruin it. It should be a moment in which we all rejoice regardless of race, color, creed, etc., etc.


America is moving towards CHANGE. CHANGE PEOPLE! Its the operative word of this whole election cycle. Yet I was a little sad, as now Former President Bush said goodbye and flew back to Texas, people want to continue to beat a dead horse, mule, goat, donkey, or whatever other animal you want to pick.

How easy do we think this job really is, you know being President? I mean its like having one huge family. Right now our neighbors, are difficult and most of them dislike us, we have money problems and plenty of other issues that should've been kept in the house. We had no choice in what country we were gonna be born in. I would be naive in my thoughts and insulting to everyone I know if I didn't admit that we were far from perfect as a country, but hey the question is can you put the past in the past and move on towards the future, towards CHANGE?


Jesus makes the case for our humanity and I'll explain that in a second. Yes we are ALL human, including Presidents. Just as we saw the flaws of Former President Bush, we saw President Obama make a mistake in front of the world during HIS oath. The point is that he too will make mistakes, he too will make decisions that will cost people their lives, he too will have restless, sleepless nights, he too will make decisions which will affect all of our lives, and he too will be responsible for keeping us safe. You see Jesus said it best "If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her." (John 8:7). In other words if anyone of us thinks that we can be perfect as president, maybe we should run. You see for some reason only 44 men have been bale to do this job. 44 out of how many millions? You just don't get the job, its not McDonald's or anything like that, not that there's anything wrong with good old Mickey D's. There was a reason why Jesus said "Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven." (Luke 6:37) because He knew that for years people have taken the easy way out. We are the best at criticizing what others do, because a lot of times we are afraid to look at who we really are, someone who is usually worse than the person were pointing at.

Let it go people! Its a new era! Celebrate a new man being in charge, forgive the inadequacies of an old man who's now gone. No longer can he affect policy! "For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins." (Matthew 6:14-15) Who are we not t forgive even the former President of the United States? Who are we not to move past this? How dare us? Especially those of us that call ourselves children of God.

I often quote Jesus not because, I'm a religious freak, or a right-wing nut job, because in Him are all the qualities that we should possess as human beings in order to deal with each other. I strive everyday to be more like Him as difficult as it can be at times. I guess Paul said it best when he talked about boasting in our weakness. Paul says, "But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. (2 Corinthians 12:9-10). Forgiveness, its the key to healing as a person, as a people, as a nation, and its also the key to true CHANGE in America. For our sake, let's move on, PLEASE!

My first blog!

Well, I've been really contemplating doing a blog because I really am a person with so much on my mind. Such pressure. There's so much to choose from, family, friends, work, God, church, and just life in general. Where do I begin. These things need to come with instructions! I guess I'll start with work. Wow! Capitol Hill is about to be on lock down. I know its a momentous occasion on many levels, but people really have no clue about the logistics and the costs that go into swearing a President in. Why do we continue to escalate things? Every time we do something in this country it has to be bigger than the last time we did it. I thought that kind of thinking only existed in Texas, where "everything is bigger", except fr the Dallas Cowboys (Yuk). Who am I to talk, my NY Giants were one and done this year.

How about the miracle landing yesterday in New York. Talk about God being there huh? Well some will give credit to the pilot, others to fate, but I know who was with them, God. He always is. I can pretty much guarantee that there were no atheists on the last minute of that flight. I read today that one gentlemen had turned on the GPS feature on his phone so that they could find his body. What a terrible action to have to take! Can you imagine how he felt. Thank God that today we can celebrate the lives of 155 people and not their deaths. After all families are hugging, kissing, and crying out of joy and not out of mourning. That's why we should look at every day just as what it is, a gift from God. I think Paul says it best in: "In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you." I tell you, now is the time of God's favor, now is the day of salvation. (2 Corinthians 6:2) I ask you, is today your day of salvation?
